The Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association (WCOWMA) invites homeowners to recognize Septic Awareness Week by taking a closer look at what goes down the drain and how well their onsite wastewater system is being maintained.

Properly designed, installed, and maintained onsite wastewater treatment systems play an important role in protecting public health and the environment by effectively treating household wastewater. However, like any important household system, they require regular monitoring and maintenance to operate properly and provide reliable service throughout their lifespan.

During Septic Awareness Week, WCOWMA will highlight the importance of proper septic system operation and maintenance and provide information to help homeowners better understand their responsibilities in caring for their systems.
