The Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association (WCOWMA) is the not-for profit organization established to educate, train and certify industry professionals in western Canada.

The association engages its member installers, septage haulers, suppliers, municipalities and provincial government departments to arrive at sound practices that strengthen the industry, and ensure safe and effective septage management for all Western Canada.

Training

The Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association provides an excellent industry training program through its provincial chapters for Onsite Wastewater Practitioners. This training is recognized in the Western Provinces through the New West Partnership Agreement (formerly TILMA).

Home Owners

WCOWMA and its provincial chapters provide resources to homeowners including information on the regulatory framework in their Province, what questions to ask your contractor, common design and installation practices, and proper operation and maintenance practices.

Training

The Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association provides an excellent industry training program through its provincial chapters for Onsite Wastewater Practitioners. This training is recognized in the Western Provinces through the New West Partnership Agreement (formerly TILMA). It is recognized federally through the Agreement on Internal Trade. These training programs have been found to meet or exceed the requirements of the Agreement on Internal Trade and the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement.

As well as this industry certification program, WCOWMA’s provincial chapters offer individual field and classroom training sessions for continuing education purposes. For information on training opportunities in your area, contact the WCOWMA office or the provincial chapter office in your region.

The Association engages the general public through its Septic Sense education program, which focuses on proper operation and maintenance of onsite wastewater systems, also called septic systems.Dates to be announced.

Upon receipt of your completed registration form, you will be sent the information on the location of the training site along with any other information required.

Homeowners

WCOWMA and its provincial chapters provide resources to homeowners including information on the regulatory framework in their Province, what questions to ask your contractor, common design and installation practices, and proper operation and maintenance practices.  A homeowner education program entitled Septic Sense is offered both online and in-person for those homeowners wishing to participate in a workshop.  The resources below provide more information.
