Septic Awareness Week is just around the corner! Taking place from September 15 to 19, 2025, this annual event highlights the importance of proper septic system care. As part of our ongoing commitment to public education, we aim to help homeowners understand the value of maintaining a healthy onsite wastewater system.
This initiative runs in collaboration with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Septic Smart Week and offers a valuable opportunity to share best practices for the operation and upkeep of septic systems. We advocate for the use of certified contractors for all aspects of design, installation, maintenance, and inspection.
Each year, the provincial associations host a series of free webinars focused on the proper maintenance and management of septic systems. These workshops are also available year-round to regional districts and municipalities interested in hosting them. Anyone looking to arrange a Septic Sense webinar is encouraged to contact their provincial association for more information.
Throughout Septic Awareness Week, we’ll also be sharing practical tips—“dos” and “don’ts”—on our social media channels to help homeowners make informed decisions.
The Western Canada Onsite Wastewater Management Association offers a digital homeowner newsletter, which includes more information on how to care for your system throughout the year.
