Septic Awareness Week Wrap-up

WCOWMA hosted the 2025 Septic Awareness Week from September 15 – 19, 2025. Over the course of the week, WCOWMA’s provincial chapters provided a series of Septic Sense webinars for homeowners on the proper operation and maintenance of their onsite wastewater treatment systems.

Each day, WCOWMA posted information on our social media on operation and maintenance as a series of Dos and Don’ts directed at homeowners.

The webinars attracted 278 homeowners interested in learning more about their valuable infrastructure. This was a 25% increase in registration over last year.

WCOWMA was joined in its efforts in making this a nation-wide initiative by the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA), Waste Water Nova Scotia Society (WWNS), and the Ontario Association of Sewage Industry Services (OASIS). Within our own borders, this initiative was well supported throughout Western Canada by Regional Districts in BC, Municipal Districts and Counties in Alberta, and Rural Municipalities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Opportunities to participate in a Septic Sense presentation are not limited to Septic Awareness Week. The Association provides webinars at the request of various groups, municipal districts and other agencies throughout the year.
